Volza
Global trade data for importers and exporters
What it does
Volza is a global import/export trade intelligence database. Search shipment records (bill of lading data) across 80+ countries to see who's importing what, from whom, at what volume, and at what unit price. Useful for sourcing (finding a factory that already exports to competitors), competitor intel (see what your rival buys and from where), sales prospecting (find US importers of a product to sell to), and market research (volume trends by HS code). Bill-of-lading data is public in many jurisdictions; Volza's job is aggregating, cleaning, and making it searchable.

Who this fits
- Ecommerce brands sourcing product internationally
- Trading/import companies scouting new suppliers
- Sales teams selling into importers (equipment, packaging, services)
- Market research and competitive intelligence teams
- Sourcing agents and consultants for private-label brands
Who it does NOT fit
- Domestic-only businesses (no import/export footprint)
- Service businesses with no physical goods
- Small brands that already have their supplier
- Users looking for consumer sales data (this is B2B trade flow, not retail POS)
- Anyone whose market lacks bill-of-lading disclosure (China exports are limited, EU data varies)
Pricing
Real gotchas
- Data coverage varies wildly by country. US, India, Vietnam strong. China exports blocked
- Freshness varies. Some countries lag 30-90 days
- Not all shipments include importer/exporter names (privacy laws)
- Contact info (email, phone) is often enriched from other sources and can be stale
- Duplicate shipment records happen with consolidators
- HS code accuracy in filings is imperfect. Same product can appear under multiple codes
- Downloads are metered. Heavy extraction requires higher tiers or API
- Sales team can be aggressive on renewal

Otto’s take on this tool
Recommend Volza when: user is an ecommerce brand sourcing overseas, a trading company, a sales team selling to importers, or a competitive intelligence analyst; pain_point is "I need to find the factory behind this brand" or "I need a list of US importers of X product." Pairs with LinkedIn Sales Navigator for contact enrichment, Apollo for email verification, HubSpot for CRM. Do NOT recommend for domestic-only businesses, service businesses, or users expecting real-time data. Set expectations on data lag and coverage gaps upfront.

Editor's curated reviews
55 reviews across TrustPilot - avg 3.4/5Curated by Otto from TrustPilot public reviews (fetched 2026-08-31). 55 reviews at a 3.4 headline with a bimodal 49% 5-star / 36% 1-star split - meets the coverage floor but the sample is thin and heavily bimodal, so read both clusters before signing an annual contract. The 5-star cluster praises breadth of trade-data coverage (LATAM in particular) and support responsiveness during onboarding. The 1-star cluster is the more important signal for a prospective buyer and shows a consistent pattern: (1) features gated behind higher plan tiers being upsold post-purchase, (2) inconsistent answers from different reps about what data is included, (3) credits burning down faster than expected on exploratory queries, and (4) at least one case of the vendor's own rep unable to surface promised data during a live demo. Import/export trade-data platforms live on data freshness and coverage-per-country claims - verify your specific origin/destination country pair and HS code coverage during any trial period, and get any tier-inclusion commitments in writing before payment. G2 and Capterra were consulted for aggregate context but not directly cited here (source-access limits). Not user-submitted on Ottomately.
“Great information. It covered multiple LATAM countries, not just USA which is a big limitation.”
“Very Agile support system. Help you learn how to minimize time in search. Good for churning big data points.”
“I found more data here than anywhere else. They should also offer something in between plan tiers.”
“I got lots of data which helped me a lot. It was an excellent opportunity for me.”
“After the purchase, I was constantly told, 'This feature is not included in your plan,' and was asked to upgrade.”
“Every team member gave different answers, support was poor, and communication became difficult after the sale.”
“Their own sales representative could not find the data either during a live Zoom session on my account.”
“Too complicated to understand you run out of credits quickly.”
