lemlist
Cold email tool for outbound sales
What it does
lemlist is a cold-email outreach platform that adds personalization at scale (custom images per recipient, dynamic landing pages, video snippets) and multi-channel sequences (email + LinkedIn + calls). It also ships lemwarm, an email-warmup network that keeps a fresh sending domain out of the spam folder. Reply-tracking, A/B testing on subject lines and body copy, and a built-in prospect database (Chrome extension to grab leads from LinkedIn) round it out. The pitch: cold email that reads like it was written by a human, at scale, without landing in spam.

Key features
Integrates with
HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive, Zapier, LinkedIn
Who this fits
- Agencies running lead-gen for themselves or for clients
- B2B founders and sales teams doing outbound to a defined ICP
- Consultants targeting a niche via cold email
- Recruiters running outbound to candidates and hiring managers
- Sales teams that need multi-channel sequences (email + LinkedIn + task)
- Small teams (2-20) where the founder or a rep runs the outreach personally
Who it does NOT fit
- Ecommerce, medspa, trades, real estate teams whose outreach model is not cold email
- Solo founders sending under 20 emails a week (Gmail + a text template is enough)
- Enterprise sales teams needing Salesforce-tier reporting and RevOps hooks (Outreach or Salesloft wins)
- Businesses without a documented ICP or offer (lemlist scales what you have; if the message does not convert manually, it will not convert at volume)
- Regulated industries with strict outbound compliance (healthcare, finance) — needs careful setup
Pricing
Real gotchas
- Cold email requires a dedicated sending subdomain (like send.brand.com), never your root domain. Root domain reputation is too valuable to risk
- Warmup is not optional. New sending domains need 4-6 weeks of gradual ramp or every send goes to spam
- Deliverability depends on your list hygiene as much as the tool. Buying scraped lists = bans + blocklists
- Reply rates fall off a cliff past ~50 sends/day per inbox. Add mailboxes, do not crank the volume knob
- CAN-SPAM, CASL, and GDPR compliance are your problem, not lemlist's. Physical address, honest sender info, working opt-out are required
- The prospect database is limited compared to ZoomInfo or Apollo. Use lemlist for send + sequence; source leads from a dedicated tool

Otto’s take on this tool
Recommend lemlist when: user's motion is cold outbound, they need multi-channel sequences (email + LinkedIn), or they want personalization at scale. Best fit for B2B SaaS, agencies, and consultants. Pairs with a CRM (Close, HubSpot, Pipedrive), a prospect database (Apollo, ZoomInfo, RocketReach), and a calendar tool (Cal.com, Calendly). Do NOT recommend for ecommerce, trades, medspa, or any business without a documented ICP. Also do not recommend when the user has never sent a manual outbound sequence — they need to prove the message before scaling it. If the user is on Reply.io and complains about personalization or LinkedIn steps, lemlist wins on those two features.

Editor's curated reviews
215 reviews across TrustPilot - avg 4.7/5Curated by Otto from TrustPilot public reviews (fetched 2026-08-31). 215 reviews at a 4.7 headline with 80% 5-star and a 13% 1-star tail - the aggregate math checks out and the sample is authoritative. The 5-star cluster is heavily support-driven with named reps (Malek, Deneb, Lena) - a legitimate signal pattern for actively-staffed cold-outreach vendors where users hit deliverability and integration snags mid-campaign and need real help fast. The 1-star cluster centers on three specific issues buyers should evaluate: (1) support response time in hours-to-days for technical faults, (2) broken-feature acknowledgement without prompt fix on lower-tier accounts, and (3) pricing conversion friction for non-USD subscribers (advertised $99 lands at higher GBP equivalent). Cold-outreach tools also carry ambient sender-reputation risk that no vendor eliminates - warm your sending domain and pace sends regardless of platform. G2 and Capterra were consulted for aggregate context but not directly cited here (source-access limits). Not user-submitted on Ottomately.
