Connecteam

All-in-one app for deskless workforce management

What it does

Connecteam is a mobile-first workforce management platform built for deskless teams — techs on trucks, retail staff, servers in restaurants, cleaners, home health aides, drivers, warehouse crews. Combines time clock (GPS-verified), scheduling, job dispatch, task lists, safety forms/checklists, employee chat, training courses, and a company knowledge base into one app the field team uses on their phone. Owners see a real-time dashboard of who's clocked in, where, and what job they're on.

Integrates with

QuickBooks, Gusto, Paychex, Zapier

Who this fits

  • Home service businesses (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, landscaping, cleaning) with 3-100 field techs
  • Construction and trades subcontractors managing job-site crews
  • Restaurants, cafes, and hospitality with shift-based hourly staff
  • Retail stores with multi-location schedules
  • Medspa and salon chains with hourly service staff
  • Delivery, logistics, warehouse crews needing task assignment + time tracking
  • Non-profits with volunteer coordination + shift scheduling
  • Any owner-operator who currently uses text messages + a paper time sheet

Who it does NOT fit

  • Salaried desk-based teams (Slack + BambooHR wins here)
  • Solo operators (nothing to manage)
  • Pure remote / async knowledge-work teams
  • Teams already using Deputy + Gusto + Slack that work fine
  • Consulting or professional-services firms billing by the hour to clients (Harvest or Toggl integrates cleaner with invoicing)

Pricing

- Free forever: up to 10 users, all core features (time clock, schedule, chat, forms) — full functionality - Basic: ~$29/mo flat for the first 30 users, then $0.50/user beyond — communications hub - Advanced: ~$49/mo flat for first 30, then $1.50/user — recurring shifts, geo-fence, task templates - Expert: ~$99/mo flat for first 30, then $3/user — process forms, advanced reporting, single sign-on The "flat for first 30 users then per-user" model is unusual and lets small owner-operator crews stay at flat pricing.

Real gotchas

  • The mobile app quality is the whole product. If your team hates it, nothing else matters — do the free-trial rollout with one crew before going company-wide
  • Geo-fence time-clock verification is Advanced+
  • Payroll integration is one-way sync (hours out to Gusto/QuickBooks Payroll etc.). Not a full payroll tool
  • Communication features (chat, updates) can compete with existing Slack/WhatsApp habits — pick a lane
  • Reporting is functional but not deep — pair with a BI tool if you need it
  • Free tier caps at 10 users. Growing past that pushes you to Basic which is fine

Integrations that matter

QuickBooks Online, Gusto, Xero, Paychex, ADP (payroll export), Zapier, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Google Calendar. NOT a deep CRM integration — this is a workforce ops tool, not a sales tool.

Otto’s take on this tool

Recommend Connecteam when: industry is trades / home-services / construction / hospitality / retail / restaurant / medspa / field-service, business_size is 3-100 employees, pain_points include "tracking time" / "scheduling shifts" / "communicating with field crew" / "hourly staff coordination" / "who's clocked in right now". This is the highest-fit tool for a small HVAC or plumbing shop or restaurant chain — Otto should be confident here. Do NOT recommend for salaried knowledge workers, solo founders, consulting firms, or SaaS teams — the tool solves a problem those businesses don't have. If team is 8+ deskless workers, this is a top-3 recommendation. Free tier ceiling makes it a no-brainer trial.

Editor's curated reviews

1,696 reviews across TrustPilot - avg 4.7/5

Curated by Otto from TrustPilot public reviews (fetched 2026-08-31). Connecteam's TrustPilot is strong (83% 5-star of 1,696 total, 4.7 headline) - praise centers on the all-in-one comms + scheduling + payroll consolidation and knowledgeable support; critical reviews focus on intermittent auto-signout and task workflow speed. G2 and Capterra were consulted for aggregate context but not directly cited here. Not user-submitted on Ottomately.

  • Connecteam has become a vital part of my company, it is very user friendly and there are many features that are invaluable to my business.
  • A task that used to take me hours, I can now complete in minutes! My team loves the ability to see their work hours on their phones.
  • It has been a very beneficial tool to have all our communications, forms, payroll and policies in one place.
  • Connecteam has been an amazing experience so far - anytime we have questions they are so helpful and knowledgeable.
  • I would love to see improvements done on the training aspect of the software. Better customization would make this 100% for me.
  • The Auto sign out only works intermittently so you have no idea who is or isn't on site - apart from the wages element it is also a H&S issue.
  • The amount of time it takes to do simple tasks is not efficient. We used three different apps before, and it didn't take near the amount of time.
