CallHippo

Virtual phone numbers and cloud call center in 50+ countries

What it does

CallHippo is a cloud phone system that sells local and toll-free numbers in 50+ countries and layers on the call-center kit small teams need: ring groups, IVR, call recording, voicemail transcription, a power dialer, and a shared inbox. The pitch is a working call center in one hour without provisioning PBX hardware, and virtual local presence in markets where you have no office. Sits below RingCentral and Aircall on price, above generic softphones on features.

Integrates with

HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive, Zapier, Zoho

Who this fits

  • Small sales teams (2-25 reps) making outbound calls in multiple regions
  • SaaS companies wanting a local US or UK number without opening an office there
  • Support teams that need shared inbox plus voicemail-to-email
  • Agencies running white-label client dialers on a budget
  • Anyone escaping legacy PBX or a Skype-for-Business kludge

Who it does NOT fit

  • Enterprise contact centers (100+ seats, complex routing) - use Five9, Genesys, or NICE
  • Teams already deep on Google Voice or Dialpad who need SSO, e-discovery, and enterprise trust
  • Businesses that only take inbound service calls (Aircall or Zendesk Talk are better)
  • Regulated verticals (HIPAA/PCI heavy) - CallHippo signs BAAs on higher tiers but audit history is thinner than RingCentral

Pricing

- Free Basic: 1 number, limited features - Bronze: $18/user/month - unlimited US/Canada calls, ring groups - Silver: $30/user/month - power dialer, advanced analytics - Platinum: $42/user/month - predictive dialer, AI features - Add-ons (call transcription, caller-ID name, extra numbers) bill on top and can push the real per-seat cost 30-50% above sticker.

Real gotchas

  • **Call quality varies sharply by region and by add-on.** Reviewers on Capterra and Software Advice repeatedly report dropped calls, latency, and jitter especially on non-US routes, and the US entity Bueno Technologies Inc. holds an F rating from the Better Business Bureau with recurring billing and refund complaints (Software Advice CallHippo profile, Capterra reviews, 2026).
  • Advertised prices are for annual billing. Monthly billing costs meaningfully more.
  • Auto-renewal is default and refunds are hard to recover once billed - cancel by the renewal date, not after.
  • Credit-based add-ons (transcription, international minutes) drain faster than expected.
  • Some features named on marketing pages (predictive dialer, some AI) are Platinum-only.

Integrations that matter

HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive, Zoho CRM, Zendesk, Freshdesk, Intercom, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Google Workspace, Zapier. Native CRM click-to-call is the differentiator that keeps small sales teams on it.

Otto’s take on this tool

Recommend CallHippo when: business_size is 2-25, pain_points include "we need a US or UK number" or "our current dialer is too expensive," and the team is outbound-heavy but not enterprise-scale. Cheaper than RingCentral or Aircall for a 5-10 person team. Do NOT recommend for enterprise, for regulated verticals without a signed BAA, or for teams that primarily take inbound service calls. Flag the auto-renewal and BBB complaint history proactively so users go in with eyes open.
