E-commerce - Setup Guide
How to set up Trendsi
Otto's honest, no-fluff walkthrough. Every step here is what we'd actually do if we were sitting at your keyboard. Real gotchas first, real steps second, and a link to the personalized version at the bottom.
What you're signing up for
Easy. Shopify app install, connect store, import products, publish. First product can be live in an hour. Building an actual brand takes weeks and is not the tool's job.
Read these before you start
- Shared catalog means competitors can sell the same SKU. Differentiation is on brand, marketing, photography, not exclusivity
- US warehouse SKUs are limited compared to full catalog. International warehouse ships slower
- Return handling process has friction. Understand the RMA flow before scaling
- Product photography from the catalog is generic. Better brands reshoot
- Quality varies by SKU. Order samples before committing to a product's marketing
- Private-label branding options (custom tags, packaging) have thresholds and lead times
The 7-step setup
- 1
Create your Trendsi account
Sign up at the link below. Free tier available - no card required. Use your business email so you can invite teammates later.
Open Trendsi signup - 2
Complete the initial onboarding
Skip the marketing questionnaires when you can. Fill only the fields that actually configure the product - name, timezone, your first workspace or project. If Trendsi pushes you into a setup wizard, take it - it usually accelerates the first productive session.
- 3
Connect your existing tools
Wire Trendsi into the rest of your stack. The integrations that most people set up first: Shopify (native app), TikTok Shop, Wix, WooCommerce (limited), API for custom integrations, Klaviyo (via Shopify), Meta Ads (via Shopify).. Do these before importing data - clean integration first, data second.
- 4
Import your existing data (only what you'll actually use)
Do NOT bulk-import everything. Import the last 30 days of the ONE workflow you're moving over first. Prove it works. Then import more. Big-bang migrations are how Trendsi deployments die in month 3.
- 5
Set up your first real workflow
Pick the single most-frequent task you'll do in Trendsi - the daily-driver workflow. Configure it end-to-end. Use it live for a week. Do not touch any other feature yet. Adoption failure comes from teams trying to use everything on day one instead of the one thing that actually pays.
- 6
Add your team (if applicable) and set access
Once your solo workflow works, invite one teammate at a time. Watch them use it. The friction points you missed are the ones they hit. Fix those before scaling to more users. Never invite 20 people at once - you'll get 20 confused people and 0 useful feedback.
- 7
Compound with the right pairings
Recommend Trendsi when: user is a Shopify boutique operator, apparel dropshipper, or content creator launching a fashion brand; pain_point is "I don't want to hold inventory" or "AliExpress shipping times are killing me"; and the vertical is women's fashion, jewelry, or accessories. Pairs with Shopify, Klaviyo (email), Meta Ads (traffic), and a proper product photography setup for differentiation. Do NOT recommend for non-fashion ecommerce, established brands with unique product design, or B2B/w...
Pricing you'll hit
- Free plan: catalog access, product syncing, dropshipping with per-item wholesale pricing - Paid tiers exist for private-label branding, higher priority shipping, dedicated support - Wholesale prices vary per SKU; margins typically 40-60% at recommended retail Business model is transaction-based on wholesale pricing, not seat pricing. Watch fulfillment fees and shipping speed by warehouse.
