Scheduling & Booking - Setup Guide
How to set up TidyCal
Otto's honest, no-fluff walkthrough. Every step here is what we'd actually do if we were sitting at your keyboard. Real gotchas first, real steps second, and a link to the personalized version at the bottom.
What you're signing up for
Easy, roughly 10 minutes for basic setup.
Read these before you start
- Being an AppSumo Original (built and owned by AppSumo itself, not a third-party lifetime-deal reseller) gives it real sustainability credibility that most AppSumo lifetime deals lack, most lifetime-deal products from independent sellers on the platform carry meaningfully higher shutdown risk (Source: product analysis via WebSearch summary, 2026)
- It intentionally lacks advanced automated workflows and full white-label branding, don't oversell it as a Calendly-Team-tier replacement for a client needing those things
- As a one-time-purchase product, expect a slower feature-release cadence than subscription competitors, this is a fair tradeoff for the price but should be set as an honest expectation upfront
The 7-step setup
- 1
Create your TidyCal account
Sign up at the link below. Card required for the paid tier - most plans include a trial period; check the pricing section on this page first so you know what you're committing to.
Open TidyCal signup - 2
Complete the initial onboarding
Skip the marketing questionnaires when you can. Fill only the fields that actually configure the product - name, timezone, your first workspace or project. If TidyCal pushes you into a setup wizard, take it - it usually accelerates the first productive session.
- 3
Connect your existing tools
Wire TidyCal into the rest of your stack. The integrations that most people set up first: Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, Outlook, Stripe, Zapier.. Do these before importing data - clean integration first, data second.
- 4
Import your existing data (only what you'll actually use)
Do NOT bulk-import everything. Import the last 30 days of the ONE workflow you're moving over first. Prove it works. Then import more. Big-bang migrations are how TidyCal deployments die in month 3.
- 5
Set up your first real workflow
Pick the single most-frequent task you'll do in TidyCal - the daily-driver workflow. Configure it end-to-end. Use it live for a week. Do not touch any other feature yet. Adoption failure comes from teams trying to use everything on day one instead of the one thing that actually pays.
- 6
Add your team (if applicable) and set access
Once your solo workflow works, invite one teammate at a time. Watch them use it. The friction points you missed are the ones they hit. Fix those before scaling to more users. Never invite 20 people at once - you'll get 20 confused people and 0 useful feedback.
- 7
Compound with the right pairings
Recommend TidyCal for solo freelancers, coaches, and consultants who want simple booking links without an ongoing subscription cost, this is one of the strongest pure-value recommendations Otto can make. Do not recommend for teams needing round-robin/multi-person scheduling or advanced workflow automation, point those clients to SavvyCal or Calendly instead. Mention the AppSumo-Original sustainability point if the client is skeptical of "lifetime deal" products generally, it's a legitimate diffe...
Pricing you'll hit
Per tools.json: single Lifetime tier at $29 one-time (unlimited bookings, all features). This is a genuinely rare pricing model in this category, confirm the offer is still live and unchanged at tidycal.com before quoting, one-time-deal pricing can be pulled or changed without the frequent public announcements a subscription price change gets.
