- Slack Huddles and calling features are genuinely lighter-weight than Zoom — don't position Slack as a Zoom replacement for client-facing video calls, it's built for quick internal voice check-ins
- Channel sprawl is the most common real-world failure mode — teams that don't establish channel-naming and archiving discipline early end up with dozens of stale channels that make search worse, not better

Recommend Slack when: the client is a team of 2+ (not solo) needing organized, searchable communication with heavy integration needs (notifications from CRM, forms, CI/CD, etc. all landing in one place). Do NOT recommend as an added cost to a team already fully on Microsoft 365 with Teams bundled, unless Slack's specific integration ecosystem is a genuine requirement they've identified. Do NOT position it as a video-conferencing replacement — pair it with Zoom or Google Meet for that.
