Productivity - Setup Guide
How to set up Lindy
Otto's honest, no-fluff walkthrough. Every step here is what we'd actually do if we were sitting at your keyboard. Real gotchas first, real steps second, and a link to the personalized version at the bottom.
What you're signing up for
Your first meaningful Lindy: 30-90 minutes. The prebuilt templates cover email triage, meeting scheduling, and lead research; those go live in an hour. A custom multi-step agent (e.g. "watch this Airt
Read these before you start
- **Agents that hallucinate**: Every AI agent occasionally invents facts or misreads context. Any Lindy that touches customers should have a human-in-the-loop approval step at first. Move to autonomous only after weeks of confidence-building.
- **Usage overages**: Users on Plus who build ambitious agents blow through the usage allowance in a week and get either capped or pushed to upgrade. Track usage during trial.
- **Integration edge cases**: Native integrations work for common use cases. Custom webhook integrations still need debugging. If a workflow relies on an obscure app, plan for a support ticket.
- **Complexity trap**: Users build one giant Lindy that does five jobs. It becomes hard to debug. Better pattern: multiple small single-purpose Lindies that hand off to each other.
The 7-step setup
- 1
Create your Lindy account
Sign up at the link below. Free tier available - no card required. Use your business email so you can invite teammates later.
Open Lindy signup - 2
Complete the initial onboarding
Skip the marketing questionnaires when you can. Fill only the fields that actually configure the product - name, timezone, your first workspace or project. If Lindy pushes you into a setup wizard, take it - it usually accelerates the first productive session.
- 3
Connect your existing tools
Wire Lindy into the rest of your stack. The integrations that most people set up first: - **Gmail + Google Workspace** - inbox monitoring, drafts, replies, calendar - **Outlook + Microsoft 365** - same for MS-shop teams - **Slack** - notifications, chat commands, DM triggers - **HubSpot, Salesforce** - CRM read/write for lead qualification agents - **Notion, Airtable** - knowledge base.... Do these before importing data - clean integration first, data second.
- 4
Import your existing data (only what you'll actually use)
Do NOT bulk-import everything. Import the last 30 days of the ONE workflow you're moving over first. Prove it works. Then import more. Big-bang migrations are how Lindy deployments die in month 3.
- 5
Set up your first real workflow
Pick the single most-frequent task you'll do in Lindy - the daily-driver workflow. Configure it end-to-end. Use it live for a week. Do not touch any other feature yet. Adoption failure comes from teams trying to use everything on day one instead of the one thing that actually pays.
- 6
Add your team (if applicable) and set access
Once your solo workflow works, invite one teammate at a time. Watch them use it. The friction points you missed are the ones they hit. Fix those before scaling to more users. Never invite 20 people at once - you'll get 20 confused people and 0 useful feedback.
- 7
Compound with the right pairings
> Example: "For your 2-person consulting firm losing 6 hours a week on inbound email triage, Lindy Pro at $99.99/mo runs the inbox monitor, categorizes new leads by budget signal, drafts a first response, and books qualified prospects into your Calendly automatically. That saves ~$1,500/mo of your time and beats hiring a $600/mo VA for the same job, because Lindy runs 24/7 and never gets sick."
Pricing you'll hit
Individual monthly plans, no annual discount published on the main page as of July 2026. - **Plus**: $49.99/mo. Standard usage allowance, up to 2 connected inboxes. Real starting tier for a founder. - **Pro**: $99.99/mo. 3x the Plus usage, up to 3 inboxes, computer use capability (agent can operate browser-based tools). Where most serious users land. - **Max**: $199.99/mo. 7x the Plus usage, up t...
