GetResponse

Email marketing with webinar and funnel capabilities

What it does

GetResponse is email marketing bundled with a genuinely useful extra: native webinar hosting. It's one of the few email platforms where you can build the campaign, the automation, the landing page, AND host the webinar itself without a separate Zoom or WebinarJam subscription. Beyond webinars it covers the standard email marketing ground: autoresponders, marketing automation workflows, landing pages, and an e-commerce tier with promo codes and abandoned cart recovery.

Key features

Email MarketingAutorespondersWebinarsFunnelsAutomationLanding Pages

Integrates with

Shopify, WordPress, Salesforce, Zapier, PayPal

Who this fits

  • Coaches, course creators, and consultants who run webinars as a core part of their funnel and want it bundled with email rather than paying for two separate tools
  • Marketers who want funnels, landing pages, and email automation in one platform
  • Small e-commerce operations wanting basic automation without Klaviyo's e-commerce-specific complexity
  • Education and coaching businesses running an evergreen or live webinar as the primary conversion mechanism

Who it does NOT fit

  • E-commerce brands wanting deep behavioral segmentation and revenue attribution — Klaviyo is purpose-built for that and wins the comparison
  • Businesses that don't run webinars — the webinar bundling is GetResponse's real differentiator, and without that use case it's competing on features other tools do better individually
  • Teams needing the absolute best-in-class landing page or funnel builder — GetResponse's version is functional but not as polished as a dedicated tool like Unbounce or ClickFunnels
  • Very large lists needing enterprise-grade deliverability infrastructure and dedicated IP management

Pricing

- Free: 500 contacts, basic email sending - Email Marketing: $16/mo — 1,000 contacts, autoresponders - Marketing Automation: $54/mo — adds workflows and webinar hosting - Ecommerce Marketing: $106/mo — adds e-commerce features, promo codes, abandoned cart - Pricing scales with contact count on every tier — the listed price is for the entry contact bracket and climbs as the list grows - Webinar attendee caps vary by plan — verify the specific attendee limit against the client's expected webinar size before committing, since exceeding it during a live event is the worst possible time to discover a cap

Real gotchas

  • The webinar feature is the reason to choose GetResponse over a pure email tool — if that's not a real use case, a client is often better served by a cheaper or more specialized email tool and a separate Zoom Webinar subscription
  • Automation depth and segmentation sophistication trail Klaviyo (for e-commerce) and ActiveCampaign (for general marketing automation) — GetResponse is broad rather than deep in any one area
  • Contact-based pricing means list growth from a successful campaign pushes the account into a higher bracket automatically — model this before committing to a specific tier
  • Webinar attendee caps and feature availability differ meaningfully between the Marketing Automation and Ecommerce Marketing tiers — verify which tier actually includes the webinar capacity needed before recommending

Integrations that matter

Shopify, WordPress, Salesforce, Zapier, PayPal, most standard payment processors for the e-commerce tier.

Otto’s take on this tool

Recommend GetResponse when: the client runs webinars as part of their funnel (coaching, course, education) and wants that bundled with email marketing rather than paying for a separate webinar tool. Do NOT recommend for e-commerce brands prioritizing deep behavioral automation — Klaviyo wins that. Do NOT recommend if webinars aren't part of the actual funnel; the bundling is the whole reason to pick GetResponse over a more specialized alternative. Always verify the webinar attendee cap against the client's expected audience size before the first live event. Pairs with a landing page tool if GetResponse's native builder doesn't hit the design bar needed.

Editor's curated reviews

1,028 reviews across TrustPilot - avg 4.3/5

Curated by Otto from TrustPilot public reviews (fetched 2026-08-31). GetResponse's TrustPilot is bimodal (65% 5-star + 26% 1-star of 1,028 total, 4.3 headline) - praise centers on high-touch support with personalised video walkthroughs and multi-year loyalty; critical reviews cluster on 2-year upfront billing, non-refund policy, and deliverability/spam-folder complaints. G2 and Capterra were consulted for aggregate context but not directly cited here. Not user-submitted on Ottomately.

  • Their team consistently provides deep, substantive guidance - going beyond basic troubleshooting to help us optimize our campaigns strategically.
  • The level of support is genuinely very high: fast, efficient, clear, and patient. We have received this kind of professional support many times.
  • It's very easy to use without sacrificing power and heft. I've been using GetResponse for about 5 years now, so I know it inside and out.
  • Andrew was very helpful and even made a personalised video showing me what to do - prompt, helpful and polite.
  • I wasn't using the service at all and they charged me upfront 2 years of membership (>300 Euros). The only reply was their strict non-refund policy.
  • Most of the messages were sent to the spam folder. This is a garbage-in, garbage-out system.
  • They don't cancel; they run your balance negative and then paywall your own contact list. Terrible business practice.
