Descript edits video and audio by editing the transcript. Delete a word in the doc, the video cuts. Fix a misspoken sentence with the AI voice clone (Overdub). It also does auto-transcription, filler-word removal, screen and camera recording, multitrack podcast editing, publish-ready templates, and social clip generation. For a podcaster or a creator shipping talking-head video weekly, it collapses the editing job from a Premiere Pro afternoon to a text-editor hour. - Some Premiere-native workflows (complex effects, precise audio ducking) still need a real NLE
- Export credits and AI-speech usage are metered, watch it if you produce heavy volume
- Video quality on the free plan is 720p with a watermark. Not usable for real production
